Brooks Hubbard | House Concert Information 2022
What is a House Concert?
A house concert is, of course, a music performance hosted at someone’s home or private space. The ideal setting for a great concert does not always have to be a world class music hall, the key is the audience and the performers trust in each other that the setting is comfortable to let the magic happen. This means a uniquely meaningful experience for everyone involved can happen in your own backyard, or your friend’s backyard or living room!
House concerts have become a popular tool for independent artists like myself to connect with fans in an intimate setting. It is beneficial for both parties because it costs less than regular concert venues and introduces new fans to new music in a meaningful way. These concerts are often more laid back, get deeper into storytelling about songwriting and life, and result in genuinely powerful performances. It feels more like a shared experience by blurring the boundary of stage and crowd.
What do I need to host a House Concert?
At its most basic elements, all you need to provide is a hosted space, parking, and a welcoming attitude. The artist fee is typically gathered by donation from the audience via ticket purchase, pass the hat, or a generous host. House Concerts are typically 15-50 people so just keep in mind your space and invite list size. It is also important to inform guests to be respectfully quiet during the performance as this helps create the perfect shared experience. Seating is something the host can provide or request from guests to bring, as well as beverages, food, and artist donation. It’s basically a party focused on the live music experience.
